This is dependent on your preferences. The spring and summer months between April and September is the tourist season because of the warmer and drier weather. Temperatures during this period are very pleasant and have much more daylight, providing more time for activities.
Winter and Autumn offers its own charm. Although darker and colder, the festive season is full of spirit, celebration and cosy evenings in lively pubs.
Quick, unexpected showers are not uncommon in Britain and Ireland, so make sure to bring waterproofs, irrespective of the time of year. Summer temperatures can go as high as 30 degrees, especially in the South of England – shorts and t-shirts are advised.
During the winter months it can get very cold with temperatures hovering towards zero and even minus in some parts of the British Isles. Packing thick jumpers, jackets along with waterproofs is a must.
